Basses:
1. M. 8-9 the basses will take the bottom split
2. M. 29 beat 4 bass will take the tenor 2's C, same thing in M. 33
3. M. 56-end basses take bottom split

Tenor 2:
1.any time a note is below E flat the tenor 2s are allowed to take tenor 1 note and then return back to their part. This happens frequently. If your tenor 2 can hit the note they are free to stay on their part. Judges will be made aware of this for auditions.
2. Tenor 2 takes the C in m. 58-59

This is the official listing of the Region 21 Vocal Division JH/MS Honor Choir Audition Material. All amendments, corrections and errata will become official only when it is published here.  For singers to audition they must be a 7th or 8th grader in Region 21.

While we strive for perfection, there are occasionally minor issues within rehearsal tracks. Please alert Hannah Sherman ([email protected]​) of any errors and region leadership will try to avoid those measures in audition cuts or
​will inform judges of how to judge those moments. Thank You!

SIGHT-READING

Middle School Sightreading
  • The sight-reading audition will count 15% of the total score.
  • Allowable key signatures are as follows: Sop/Alto in F, Tenor in G, Bass in C.
  • The sight-reading exercise will be written in both clefs for Tenor only.
  • The exercise will be 4 measures in length using quarter, half, dotted half, whole and an occasional pair of eighth notes. The exercise may include quarter and half rests.
  • The sight-reading exercise will use mostly stepwise movements with skips limited to the tonic chord and leaps of do to sol in any direction. The range of the exercise will be Do to Sol.
  • Total rhythm and pitch points must equal 30.
